  • Gets an opportunity to start their apprenticeship as early as grade 11
  • Can be signed as an apprentice while still registered in High School 
  • MTCU pays the$40 registration fee

  • Clients of Employment Ontario benefit from services like resume assistance,
    interview skills, etc
  • Clients may also eligible for assistance with purchasing of tools, or other job related
    materials which will help them on the job.

Apprenticeship Scholarship
  • Clients requiring upgrading to meet the academic eligibility requirements for
    apprenticeship training in their chosen trade.

Trades Person's Tool Deduction


  • Journeypersons and apprentices can write off half of their yearly tool purchases which totalup to $1000.00 (Write off $500.00)

Apprenticeship Incentive Grant (AIG)

  • This is a taxable cash grant which apprentices apply for once they have successfully completed Level 1 and Level 2 in-school training ($1000.00for each of the two levels)

Apprenticeship Completion Grant (ACG)

  • For apprentices who complete their training
  • Apply for grant upon successfully obtaining their Certificate of Completion
  • Also for non- red seal trades

Loan for tools

  • Apprentices can take an interest free loan once they are signed as an apprentice
  • Interest starts once the apprentice completes their C of Q exam or leave the trade early.
